news '08: around the shows
Bendigo Swap & SellIf you've never been then I can't recommend enough getting along to the Bendigo Swap & Sell day each year. It is the first event of the year and after a three month gap the swap and sell always has plenty of fresh items. 2008 was no exception with outstanding quality available to buy in virtually any category. Always on in early to mid February make a point of going next year if you get the chance.
Toowoomba National
The biggy for the year came early in 2008. The 37th National at Toowoomba was a beauty with great support by collectors from all around Australia and New Zealand. As is now the way the displays are fewer than 20 odd years ago but the quality is absolutely astounding. Stand out category was the Crown Seals (in both A and B sections) with incredible bottles on virtually every one of the 13 total entries. Swap and sell was good with plenty of nice bottles available and many changing hands. Great public support also gave the hall a buzz for nearly all the weekend. And the great atmosphere carried over to the auction on Saturday night with a buoyant mood and strong buying throughout the sale.
